BASIC & ADVANCED MEDICAL

Life Skills Academy firmly believes that while it is important to win the encounter, no one asks “what do you do afterwards if you are wounded”?

At Life Skills Academy we realize the need for medical training of all types when it comes to handling firearms, self defense and the possibility of a confrontation that may result in injury to yourself or your team member. We train you to best understand this risk through real-time, hands-on training and in-depth explanations of advanced anatomy.

Life Skills Academy offers classes from Basic First Aid and CPR, through advanced training for intermediate and advanced individual, guard, police and military personnel. Our medical team consists of skilled professionals that are Registered Nurses with ground and air ambulance experience as well as daily emergency room operations. Personnel are highly specialized and have field medical experience in military and civilian scenarios.

Students may take this course as a stand alone training program (from one to four days in length) or as part of the advanced individual or academy based training. The Life Skills Academy offers this training to both guard and police personnel. Basic CPR and First Aid classes are taught by certified instructors and therefore you will be issued certification cards upon successful completion of the courses.

Advanced (Trauma) Medical training consists of real-time training in a hands-on field and classroom environment. This course imparts extensive knowledge to the student by our medical team.

Life Skills Academy realizes that this information is critical to survival. We teach these subjects in such a way that the student can better understand and act on what is happening in order to survive. This class is strictly for the student and their survival.

BASIC & ADVANCED MEDICAL COURSE - Brief Synopsis

Our medical course is designed to show the student the results of a violent encounter in a real-world environment and then demonstrate advanced medical techniques that can be applied by the students to themselves, should the worst occur.

The skills taught here are not taught anywhere else. No other school goes to this level of advanced trauma medicine with students. This is the reason for this level of training.

Students will be taught the following subject matter as it relates to trauma medicine and the administration of immediate medical assistance:

  • Basic wound analysis and the consequences of such wounds
  • Differences between edged weapon wounds and bullet wounds
  • Body responses to blunt force trauma vs. wounds
  • Time vs. wound management
  • Basic medical equipment needed after a violent encounter
  • "Training to Survive" the wound
  • Psychological support of the wounded victim
  • Proper assessment and radio communication of condition
  • Team (2 man) wound treatment
  • Movement of personnel in immediate life-threatening situations
  • "Golden Hour" scenarios
  • Treatment in extended and outlying areas
  • Summoning and ground symbols for helicopter
  • Establishment of the landing zone (LZ)
  • Securing the LZ.

Important NoticeWe cannot medically "certify" the student in this specific, individual course of study. The reason for this is that advanced medical training of this type often requires that the student be a paramedic, RN, or higher and that such classes are under the supervision of an MD. We do however certify that you have undertaken such a course and will re-affirm this to any prospective employer.
